NIDEA IS SECRETARY-GENERAL OF NATIONAL RESCUE & RESPONSE ASSOCIATION

LEGASPI City --  The elected National President of the National Rescue & Disaster Association (NRDA) yesterday announced the appointment of Sir Jennis I. Nidea (30-01) as its national Secretary-General.

The announcement of Mr. Romualdo J. Elvira, Jr., Chief of the Albay Agri Rehab Office of the Office of the Governor and the Over-All Coordinator of the recently concluded 6-day First National  Rescue and Disaster Response Competition was made during the Exit Conference.

NRDA was organized as a result of a consultation with various Provincial/City/Municipal Disaster Coordinators present in the 6-day competition held July 26-31, 2010 in Legaspi City and Sto Domingo, Albay.

Aimed initially at institutionalizing the Disaster Response and emergency Rescue Inititiatives of various rescue groups, both government & non-government in the country, the organization of NRDA was given full support by Albay Governor Joey Sarte Salceda.

Elvira said that NRDA�s other objectives are: to enhance the capabilities on skills development and rescue mobilization of members; to provide ready-rapid response team to any emergency call from any parts of the country and; to institutionalize the holding of the annual national rescue and disaster response competition.

Elvira also bares that the ultimate goal of the NRDA is to establish a National Disaster City in albay.

Prior to his appointment, Nidea, an assistant information officer of the Department of Agriculture in Bicol,  is the incumbent Regional Governor of KB Bicol, the 2009 national gawad kalasag awardee as the outstanding private / non-government organization in the country.

He is also the founder and national president of KBNet Philippines, a national network and umbrella organization of the volunteer groups in the country.
