KABORONYOGAN NIN MGA BICOLNON (KB BICOL), INC.

NAGA City  -- While other legal remedies are still available, the Kabalikat Bicol decided to put an end to a legal clash on the corporate name with the Civicom group, by unanimously agreeing to change its corporate name from -- Kabalikat Civic Communicators network of Bicol, Inc. or Kabalikat Bicol into KABORONYOGAN NIN MGA BICOLNON (KB BICOL), INC.

KB Bicol Regional Governor Jennis I. Nidea (30-01) also announced that the general assembly also approved the adoption of a new organization's logo.

After consultative discussions and extensive deliberations during its regional assembly held August 21, 2010 held at the CSPC Naga City Campus, the general membership "resolved to abide with the decision of the Commission En Banc of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to put an end to the protracted court action and buy peace of mind and avoid possible disruption of public service to the community taking into consideration the primary reason for its establishment -- To provide public service for the welfare and benefit of the community."

Earlier, after more than 2 years of legal battle when Kabalikat Civicom submitted a petition before the SEC "to revoke the SEC Registration issued to the Kabalikat Bicol for using the coporate name -- Kabalikat."

The SEC then decided the matter in Civicom's favor.  However, instead of the revocation of its registration, the SEC just ordered the Kabalikat Bicol to change or modify its name.

Nidea then immediately filed a Memorandum-Appeal to the Commission En Banc.

On July 15, 2010, the En Banc decided to uphold the earlier decision ordering the Kabalikat Bicol to "change or modify its name."

Though, the group can still elevate the matter before the Court of Appeals and to the Supreme Court, according to Nidea, who is also the founder and national president of the KBNet Philippines, Inc., a national network and umbrella organization of the volunteer groups in the country, the general membership, after discussing the pros and cons, decided not to appeal and instead, change its name.

In his letter to the SEC, Nidea said that " Our acceptance of the Decision of this Honorable Commission, does not mean that we have conceded
to the fact that there were confusion due to existence of the 2 non-stock, non-profit organization.

"For instance, though not limited tot eh Kalasag Award", Nidea pointed out, "we are the true recipient of the said award without any cloud of doubt or confusion from the conferring government agency as we actively participated in its activities to gather the milestone achievement for our organization."

"Nevertheless", the Regional Governor stressed, "in the spirit of sportsmanship, brotherly love and public service, we openheartedly accept our faith and acknowledge you as the appropriate government agency tasks to regulate our existence and operation."
