KB BICOL SUPPORTS CSUR GOVT’S EL VERDE MOVEMENT
NAGA City -- The Kaboronyogan nin mga Bicolnon (KB Bicol), Inc. is extending a one hundred percent (100%) support to the El Verde Movement spearheaded by the provincial government of Cam.Sur which will be launched on February 23, 2011.
KB Bicol (formerly Kabalikat Bicol) is a private/non-government voluntary organization with more 60 chapters in the Bicol Region.
KB Bicol was the 2009 National Gawad Kalasag Awardee of the National Disaster Coordinating Council as Outstanding Private/Non-Goernment Volunteer Organization in the Philippines under the leadership of Immediate Past Regional Governor Jennis I. Nidea (30-01). It is one of the original incorporators of the KBNet Philippines, Inc., a national network and umbrella organization of volunteer groups in the country.
Regional Governor Sir Irvin C. Ayo (30-54) said that the Regional Executive Council (REC) is coordinating with the Provincial Executive Council (PEC of Cam. Sur headed by Sir Jaime M. Kalaw, Jr. (30-59) in mobilizing the officers and members of the chapters within the province of Cam.Sur.
Ayo also said that he has already instructed the KB Bicol Regional Officers to send delegations from other chapters in the Bicol region to participate and support the "greening" efforts of Cam. Sur.
El Verde Movement aims at protecting the ecosystem of the province and also to help attain food security for its people. It will be launched in response with President Noynoy Aquino"s directive to promote the sustainable use of the country's natural resources.
Conceptualized by CSur Governor Luis Rymund Villafuerte, the El Verde movement is envisioning a greener province by extensivly planting some 500,000 or hlf a million forest and fruit bearing trees in various parts of the province on February 23, 2011. The activity will cover 1,036 barangays in the 35 towns and 2 cities.
Ayo said that KB Bicol members who will participate in the launching of El Verde Movement on February 23 "should confirm their attendance by texting CSur PEC Chairman Sir Jun kalaw at CP No. 09175803059 or the REC at CP No. 09218277139.
All KB Bicol members must be at the Boy Scouts of the Philippines Cam. Sur Council Headquarters, Pangniban Avenue, Naga City on or before 8:00 in the morning of February 23 before proceeding in convoy to the launching area in Bgy. Sto Niño, campo, Ocampo, Cam. Sur.(jin)
