KABALIKAT LINED-UP ACTIVITIES FOR PEÑAFRANCIA 2008

Once again, Kabalikat Bicol will provide assistance to various activities in the celebration of Peñafrancia Fiesta.

On September 12, 2008, the group, in the initial salvo of the Peñafrancia Festivies, will provide support as marshall and security of the “andas” of the Nuestra Señora the Peñafrancia and of the Divino Rostro during the mass and novena at the Basilica Minore prior to the traslacion procession. After the mass and novena, the group will cordon the pathway of the “andas” from the Basilica church to the main gate of the Basilica complex as its exit gate.

Members of each chapter will then proceed to the route of the traslacion procession and to monitor in the area where their chapter is assigned.

On September 13 to 14, 2008, the group will assist the Marian Youth Congress beginning with a procession from the Provincial Capitol Complex, Cadlan, Pili, Camarines Sur to the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Naga City for an overnight activity.

In the Military Street Parade Competition scheduled on September 19, 2008, chapters from Albay, Camarines Norte, Sorsogon, Masbate and Camarines Sur will assist in the assembly area of four (4) competing categories with a total of 140 competiting units. The members have to report at 6:30 am until the parade ends at around 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon.

All members will finally converged on September 20, 2008 for the Fluvial procession and will assist in the monitoring along the route of the procession for any emergencies and will provide crowd control for the 4 major bridges along the route of the fluvial procession, namely: Tabuco bridge, Rosales bridge, Colgante bridge and the Magsaysay bridge.

It can be recalled that Colgante bridge collapsed during the Fluvial Procession in 1972 where a hundred of devotees died during that accident. Magsaysay bridge likewise was said to be dangerous to crowd to stay in the bridge during the fluvial.
